So, once again instead of studying i was reading the news.

This one i found particularly interesting and slightly discouraging. Apparantely AT&T (which owns cingular) is going to re-brand cingular wireless back into AT&T starting monday. So in a few month Cingulars character (Jack) and the lovely orange logo will be history.

The news article points out the fact that this may be a negative change in terms of image perception, especially amongst younger customer and frankly they are right. I hate AT&T and just about everything that has to do with it, so it will be slightly difficult to get used to the name change as i associate all sorts of negative perceptions with AT&T (and so do lot’s of other people).

I guess the only thing i am hoping for is that this re-branding will be merely a name change and nothing also. Even since cingular took over AT&T’s wireless business seems as though things began looking up in terms of customer service and so forth, so i would hate to see that reversed.

Also it will be interesting to see how that will effect the partnership with Apple Inc. and innovation process mentioned in the previous post…
